Is it better to get botox or dermal fillers?

Since both Botox injections and dermal fillers provide unique services and benefits, the answer to which service is better depends on your particular skin care needs and concerns! Some of the questions below may help you decide whether Botox injections or dermal fillers are best for you.

Do fillers last longer than botox?

There is a wide range of different dermal fillers that last for varying lengths of time. With that in mind, while not all fillers last longer than Botox injections, most of them do.

On average, Botox injections last three to four months but can last for as long as six months or as short as two months. In contrast, dermal fillers can last from four months to five years, depending on the product used. With that in mind, some common dermal fillers and their average result times are as follows:

– Bellafill: up to five years
– Juvéderm Ultra: between six and 12 months
– Juvéderm Volbella: approximately one year
– Juvéderm Vollure: between 12 and 18 months
– Juvéderm Voluma: up to two years
– Radiesse: between 12 and 18 months
– Restylane Defyne, Refyne, and Lyft: up to one year
– Restylane-L: an average of six months
– Restylane Silk: around six to ten months
– Sculptra: up to two years

Which is more expensive: Botox or dermal fillers?

In general, dermal fillers are more expensive than Botox injections, but they also last longer on average. If you would like to know our price ranges for dermal fillers and Botox injections at New Look Med Spa, please feel free to give us a call!

What is the difference between dermal filler and botox?

The operative ingredient in Botox injections is botulinum toxin type A, which is a neuromodulator. As such, Botox injections help improve fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes, forehead, and eyebrows, by blocking the signals between nerve endings in the treatment area and neurotransmitters in the brain responsible for muscle contractions. Since repeated muscle contractions due to various facial expressions (i.e., smiling, squinting, or frowning) are one of the primary culprits of fine lines and wrinkles, the temporary reprieve from muscle contractions provided by Botox injections allows your skin time to relax and smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles in the treatment area.

In contrast to Botox injections, dermal fillers contain substances that are injected beneath the skin to increase volume, fullness, and, in most cases, collagen production. Depending on the specific dermal filler, some substances used in dermal fillers include the following:

– Calcium hydroxyapatite, which is made up of calcium and phosphate ions that occur naturally in your body (Radiesse)
– Hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar molecule in the body found in the highest concentrations in the fluid around the joints and eyes (Juvéderm)
– Poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic, biodegradable, and biocompatible substance that triggers the body’s natural ability to produce collagen (Sculptra Aesthetic)
– Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres, which use gel microspheres to plump up the skin and induce collagen production (Bellafill)
